Profile of Zelan
Zelan has accumulated extensive experience during her career at Sony, including managerial roles and serving as an executive for investment portfolio companies in areas such as product quality, corporate strategy, and venture investments.
Amid the busy demands of organizational life—where logical thinking and adherence to established goals and processes were essential—she gradually developed a growing interest in engaging more deeply with her own senses, physicality, and skills. This led to a fortunate encounter with Kenji Kitagawa, a renowned pioneer in copperplate printing and collage, whose encouragement inspired Zelan to embark on the path of an artist, conceiving and executing works that transform personal thoughts and imagery into tangible creations.

In today's world, overflowing with excessive information and stimuli, Zelan seeks to depict the enduring essence of "emptiness" (kūshō)—the universal truth that all phenomena occur only once and continually transform through mutual interdependence.
To express this, she actively incorporates techniques and tools that resist full control, such as collage using pre-existing materials, single-edition printmaking methods, fluid techniques with paint with enhanced fluidity by medium, and even AI. Like casting a stone into water to create ripples, her creative process revolves around initiating natural phenomena and selectively shaping them.

Zelan's works continue to evolve and grow daily.
Through these creations, she aspires to offer audiences a new sense of perception, focus, and inner tranquility, providing a glimpse of the essence of emptiness.

Besides solo exhibitions, she has participated in art fairs and group exhibitions such as Kudoyama Art Festival (Wakayama), Iwakuni Biennale (Yamaguchi), and Kyoto Art Center's Geibunkyo Exhibition. She has won multiple awards at FEI Global Print Award and other competitions.
Commissioned work includes a commemorative piece for British progressive rock legend Peter Hammill's tour of Japan.
