I always want what comes to mind as the next action in the process of painting to come down to me as a clear "answer". 
When multiple ideas come to mind, they become options, and a decision must be made as to which one to choose.

And as Andy Warhol once said, the more decisions we make, the more the power of the painting diminishes... 

After writing this far, I was worried that these words were really his.
I looked them up and found that, my own paraphrase notwithstanding, they were in fact as follows.  

“Don't think about making art, just get it done. 
Let everyone else decide if it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. 
While they are deciding, make even more art.”
